The problem

Sound familiar?

01Family offices are hard to find. Most don’t have websites, don’t publish mandates and don’t take inbound decks.
02Your LP network is tapped.Fund I came from people who knew you. The next fund needs people who don’t, yet.
03LP relationships take years.Allocators like to watch a manager over time. Start when you open the fund and you’re already late.

Don’t pitch them. Interview them.

Invite CIOs onto your show to talk about where private capital is going. It starts the relationship long before you need the commitment.

Questions

Before you book.

It depends on how you’re raising. Under Rule 506(b) you generally can’t make a general solicitation, so outreach has to build relationships, not offer the fund. Under 506(c) you can solicit, but every investor must be a verified accredited investor. Invites never include offering terms, and nothing goes out until you approve it, so your counsel can sign off on the approach first. This isn’t legal advice.

Start the LP conversations before you need them.
